چکیده

We design a feedback control architecture for longitudinal flight of an aircraft. The multi-level architecture includes the flight control loop to govern the short term dynamics of the aircraft, and the autopilot to control the long term modes. Using H∞ performance and robustness criteria, the problem is cast as a non-convex and non-smooth optimization program. We present a non-convex bundle method, prove its convergence, and show that it is apt to solve the longitudinal flight control problem.

Structured flight control law design using non-smooth optimization

We extend the concept of bundle methods to address non-convex and nonsmooth optimization problems arising in the design of a feedback control law for the longitudinal flight control of a civil aircraft. Our novel approach has two advantages. It allows to handle the specific structure of the control law directly, and we can express control law specifications directly as band-limited frequency-do...

Optimal nonlinear control of flight faults in manned aircrafts in the presence of fault and failure of control actuato

Control actuators' faults are among the major reasons to lose aircraft control while flights. The plane dynamics is severely dependent upon faults and errors in flight control systems and if the reformed control order is not issued by the fault tolerant controller there would be unpleasant outcomes such as inconsistency and the reduction of system performance and some dreadful aerial accide...

Spectral bundle methods for non-convex maximum eigenvalue functions: first-order methods

Many challenging problems in automatic control may be cast as optimization programs subject to matrix inequality constraints. Here we investigate an approach which converts such problems into non-convex eigenvalue optimization programs and makes them amenable to non-smooth analysis techniques like bundle or cutting plane methods. We prove global convergence of a first-order bundle method for pr...

Taguchi Approach and Response Surface Analysis for Design of a High-performance Single-walled Carbon Nanotube Bundle Interconnects in a Full Adder

In this study, it was attempted to design a high-performance single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) bundle interconnects in a full adder. For this purpose, the circuit performance was investigated using simulation in HSPICE software and considering the technology of 32-nm. Next, the effects of geometric parameters including the diameter of a nanotube, distance between nanotubes in a bundle, and ...

Examination of Quadrotor Inverse Simulation Problem Using Trust-Region Dogleg Solution Method

In this paper, the particular solution technique for inverse simulation applied to the quadrotor maneuvering flight is investigated. The ‎trust-region dogleg (DL) technique which is proposed alleviates the weakness of Newton’s method used for numerical differentiation of system states in the solution process. The proposed technique emphasizes global convergence solution to the inverse simulatio...
